Search for it

  1. Open Payments.
  2. In the box at the top, type what you have, and press Find.
  3. Open the payment you were looking for. Press Clear to go back to the full list.
You haveWhat to type
An email addressThe one on the payment, on your customer’s record, or the one they typed at checkout. Capitals do not matter.
The cardIts last four digits, such as 5599, or the way a statement shows it, such as **** 5599.
A reference from the bankThe whole reference. A payment’s own id works too.

It finds only exact matches: part of an address or of a reference finds nothing. It shows the newest 50 that match, and says so if there are more. It searches the mode you are in, so switch to the other one if a payment is not there.

We never hold a full card number, so typing one is refused and nothing is searched. Use its last four digits.

What you type is not kept. When you leave the page, the search goes, and coming back shows the full list.

Look through the list

  1. Open Payments.
  2. Choose a filter at the top, such as Paid, to narrow it down.
  3. Use the amount and the date to spot it, and open it.

From a customer

If the payment has a customer record, open Customers, choose them, and their payments are listed on their page.

A payment link’s page lists Payments through this link. An invoice’s page lists Payments against this invoice.

When the bank gives you a reference

Type it into the search box. A payment’s page also shows What the bank recorded, so you can check it is the one they mean.

For your bookkeeper

Reports has a CSV of your payments for any period. A spreadsheet is the quickest way to search a long list.
