Take payments in person with a QR code

Short answer

Print the QR code from a payment link’s page and put it on your counter. Your customer scans it and pays by card on their own phone.

Set it up once

  1. Create a payment link for what you sell at the counter.
  2. Open the link under Payment links. Its page shows a QR code labelled Scan or print.
  3. Print it, and put it where your customers can scan it.

Make the link in Live mode. A QR code from Test mode only takes test cards.

When a customer pays

They scan the code with their phone’s camera, and the link opens. They enter their email, then type their card on a secure page hosted by the bank. When it says the payment went through, it appears under Payments.

Check that it says Paid before they leave with what they bought.

If the amount changes every time

A link charges one price. For a bill that differs each time, make a price where the customer chooses the amount, and tell them what to enter.

We do not sell card machines

There is no terminal to tap or insert a card into, and no app. The card is always typed by your customer on their own phone.
