Change an invoice after sending

Short answer

Once an invoice is finalised, its lines, amounts and due date are fixed. To change one, void it if nothing has been paid, and make a new one.

While it is a draft

You can add lines under Add a line, and remove one with its ✕. The customer, the currency, the due date and partial payment are set when you make the draft, so to change those, press Discard and make another.

Once it is finalised

Finalising fixes the lines, the amounts and the due date, because your customer may already have the document. Nothing on it can be changed from the dashboard.

To correct it:

  1. Press Void on the wrong invoice. It keeps its number, and stays on record.
  2. Make a new invoice with the right details, and finalise it. It gets the next number.

If your customer has already paid part of it, it cannot be voided. Refund what they paid first, or tell them about the change and charge the difference on a new invoice.

For your developer

The Note to the customer, the Small print and metadata can still be changed through the API while the invoice is open.
