# Take a test payment without writing code

Make a payment link in Test mode, open it, and pay it with our test card. No real money moves, and you see exactly what your customer will see.

Who can: Owner, Administrator, Developer can make a payment link in [Payment links](https://dashboard.secureprocessing.app/payment-links).

## Pay your own link

1. Check the switch says **Test**.
2. Under **Products**, press **New product**, and give it a name and a price.
3. Under **Payment links**, press **New payment link**, choose that price and press **Create payment link**.
4. Open **The URL to share** in a new tab, and press **Pay by card**.
5. On the bank’s test page, pay with a card from the [test cards page](https://docs.secureprocessing.app/test-cards.md) that says it succeeds.

## See it arrive

Open **Payments**, and your test payment is at the top. Open it to see what your dashboard records. From there, you can try [a refund](https://docs.secureprocessing.app/help/refunds/refund-a-payment.md) too.

A receipt goes out only if the address belongs to someone on your team, because Test mode emails nobody else.

## See a card refused

The [test cards page](https://docs.secureprocessing.app/test-cards.md) also lists a card the bank’s test system should decline, so that you can see what your customer would. That system is the bank’s, so it may not always answer the same way.
